Fun Resourceful Project
What is the Window Film Performance Report?
What is the Window Film Performance Report? What is it even for? How do I use this?
Those are some of my favorite questions to be asked when it comes to a new project. I enjoy creating things that I haven't seen before. I'm not usually one to just consider how I can make something better. I like to break the mold, look at the problem with a new lens, and find creative solutions I've never seen before.
That's where the Window Film Performance Report came from!
One big problem a lot of reputable shops have is someone around town who is selling higher end films like single- and multi-layer ceramics, but only installing standard dyed film. Or they're just lying about their film's performance specifications. And I'm not talking about the "rejects up to 98% heat" claims. I'm sure most shops who say that are still installing a quality ceramic film, and I hope they just don't understand the truth.
I mean the shops that show you some ceramic tint on display, let you feel it with a heat lamp, and then put a lower grade film on your car. How would a customer even know? They don't have the tools to measure.
In comes the Window Film Performance Report. It serves two purposes: a certification that you measured the film afterward and how well their film is performing on their windows, and to bring in customers from around town for a free performance report.
And I have to be honest here. I created it solely for the second use. I wanted a way to convert those potential customers with a marketing campaign. You go all over social media offering a free performance report. Any customer can come by during business hours. You go out to their car with a meter, take a couple pictures of the readouts, and then fill out the performance report. Then you have a nice PDF you can print out and hand them for the official look. And you can also email it to them so they can have a digital copy (and so you could capture some contact details as a lead).
A friend of mine (thanks, Tim!) made the point that he likes the idea of creating one of these for each of his customers as a value add to show real proof of performance after install. It's one thing to tell a customer you installed a certain film, it's a whole other thing to show them with an official looking certificate. It also adds on a layer that I always look for in business:
What can I do for my customers that no one else is willing or able to do?
I fight for this in my projects all the time, and this is one of those.
Another friend (great idea, Eric!) wanted to brand it so that he was the only one in the area offering the Sun-Kool Tintfax Report. So I went back in and gave the option to create a custom brand name. That way you can set the standard in your area so that customers ask for the report by name!
Leave a comment below if this project is something you're interested in using, and I can send you a link. Right now it's only available for the Tint Fam Community members, but I can potentially open it up if enough people are interested.
